Join Us! Open House at Mąą Pįį Preserve/Historic 1885 Hess House

November 8 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

JDCF invites the public to a free open house to tour the historic 1885 Hess House and learn about JDCF’s plans for the newly named Mąą Pįį Preserve as a Center for Science and Culture. Coffee and light refreshments will be served. Mąą Pįį translates to “Good Earth” in the Ho-Chunk language and honors the fertile ground of this region that has been providing food and shelter to those living here for thousands of years.

While the Mąą Pįį Preserve is over 300 acres in size, the open house will focus on the Hess House and its grounds. Guests will meet JDCF staff and volunteers to learn about the history, architecture and recent renovations of the house, JDCF’s co-management of the land with the Ho-Chunk and Sac and Fox Nations, and current and future programming for members of the community. Tours beyond the house and grounds are not planned at this time.
