Fall is the perfect time for a walk in the woods. Join us for a hands-on workshop and then take a walk through the woods with local tree ID experts to learn more about the native trees of Illinois and how to identify them! Free and open to the public. You will learn how to identify the tree species of our local area with tree enthusiasts Pam Johnson (JDCF volunteer and Master Naturalist) and Ken Beach (Northern Illinois Forestry Association). The program will cover approximately 1.5 miles on uneven terrain. Please wear long pants and closed toed shoes, and bring drinking water. Parents are encouraged to bring their children and will be given take-home information on activities appropriate for kids. The event will be held rain or shine.
