DESCRIPTION:Join JDCF staff and volunteers are we explore the prairie to catch and tag monarch butterflies who are beginning their fall migration back to Mexico. This event will give people of all ages the chance to become one of thousands of volunteers across North America who monitor the health and dynamics of monarch butterfly populations. You will also learn about the unique life history of monarch butterflies\, the threats that are facing them\, and how you can help this endangered species thrive. Free and RSVPs not needed. SUMMARY:Safety & Woods Working (SAWW) Training 101
DESCRIPTION:This 2-day course is certified through the Safety and Woods Working (SAWW) training program and is part of a four-level series designed to increase safety and efficiency of chainsaw use. Registration is through the NW IL Forestry Association. \nLevel 101 is geared toward participants with little or no experience running a chainsaw\, covering Level 1 material at a more deliberate pace over two full training days\, in a supportive and dynamic setting. \nLevel 101 introduces the participant to bore cutting and open face felling\, and develops the mechanics to execute these techniques. Hands-on training gives participants the opportunity to run the saw in various scenarios\, and observe others as we get comfortable with this powerful tool. Costs TBD.
