SUMMARY:World Migratory Bird Day Bird Walk
DESCRIPTION:It’s time to celebrate migratory birds on International World Migratory Bird Day. To commemorate this occasion\, as well as Galena’s designation as an Illinois Bird City\, JDCF invites you to enjoy a walk down the Galena River Trail with Tom Clay\, former President of the Illinois Audubon Society\, to see and hear birds returning to build their nests and enjoy the insects of Illinois for the summer. We will meet at the trailhead under the HWY 20 bridge. Free and no RSVP required. \nIf you would like to get involved to make your observations matter\, and continue the celebration of World Migratory Bird Day\, join JDCF for our annual Spring Bird Count. On May 9th\, teams spread out across Jo Daviess County to survey birds and report the census to the Illinois Natural History Survey. Contact Chris Larson at clarson55@gmail.com to volunteer to join a count team\, or learn how to join the count from your backyard!

SUMMARY:Open House at Big Sky Nature Reserve
DESCRIPTION:As part of our ongoing Inspiring You to Preserve Our Future fundraising campaign\, JDCF invites you and your family to come and learn more about our conservation work\, education programs\, and ongoing priorities during this open house/fundraising event.  Birding experts Tom Clay and Roberta Asher will talk about some of the rare and wonderous species you can see in the grasslands at Big Sky.  You will also have a chance to meet our new CEO/President\, Nathan Aaberg\, prior to his start date and thank Steve Barg\, current executive director\, for his 13 years of service as he heads into retirement. \nBring your binoculars and take in some birding on the 15 miles of trails available for hiking. Big Sky is truly is one of the most beautiful locations in Jo Daviess County and once you have seen it you will want to come back! Please RSVP to info@jdcf.org or 815-858-9100. \nInspiring You to Preserve Our Future is a fundraising campaign to benefit people\, nature\, and wildlife in Jo Daviess County through support of the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation.
