SUMMARY:Experience the Upper Miss Refuge Boat Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join us on a 30-seater touring boat for a 90-minute cruise into the Upper Mississippi River Wildlife and Fish Refuge. You will have a rare opportunity to both experience and learn about the riparian forests\, swamps\, sloughs\, wildlife and fish habitat that characterize the Upper Miss Refuge. In all\, the Refuge is 261 river miles and 244\,000 acres of wetlands\, protected 100 years ago. The Refuge runs from Wabasha\, Minnesota to Rock Island\, Illinois and borders all of Jo Daviess County. RSVP’s are required and seats will be awarded on a first come\, first served basis. SUMMARY:Tree ID Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Ken Beach with the Northwest Illinois Forestry Association and Master Naturalist Pam Johnson for an immersive workshop on recognizing tree species in Northwest Illinois. The first half of this three hour workshop will take place in the outdoor classroom at Schurmeier Teaching Forest\, where instructors will go over characteristics of local tree species with hands-on examples. This will be followed by a walk through the woods to identify trees together. Free and RSVPs not needed.  The workshop is weather dependent so check back here for updates.
