SUMMARY:Explore Hanley Savanna with NW IL Prairie Enthusiasts
DESCRIPTION:The Northwest IL Prairie Enthusiasts (NIPE) invite the public for a guided walk at its Hanley Savanna property near Hanover\, IL. Members of NIPE meet regularly at Hanley Savanna to inventory plant species\, birds\, wildlife and insect species\, especially the endangered Rusty-patched Bumblebee. This bumblebee is the first bee species to be federally listed as endangered\, but so far has not been documented at Hanley Savanna. This summer the group has encountered a number of bird\, dragonfly and butterfly species\, as well as some bumblebees. And of course\, the prairie plants have been amazing! \nPlease dress for the weather and bring insect repellent\, sunscreen\, and water. Since the walks are weather-dependent\, please check the NIPE Facebook page for last minute updates or changes. The walks are on level ground and generally aren’t a long distance.
