Galena Gateway Park ~ A Bit of History

JDCF went Live this morning with guests Mark Moran, City of Galena Administrator, and Emily Painter, JDCF Board V.P. and Co-Chair of the Friends of Gateway Park, an all volunteer group that led a successful, six-week fundraising campaign to secure the final dollars needed for the purchase of 100-acres known as the ‘first view of Galena’. Mark and Emily shared the story of the 15-year quest to make this vision a reality, how the public/private partnership between JDCF and the City of Galena played an essential role, and how the two entities continue to work together at the now 180-acre park. We thank the Apple River State Bank/First Community Bank of Galena for sponsoring our Facebook Live series.
