The Elizabeth Historical Society and the Friends of Wapello are pleased to be co-hosting Adventures with Audubon with internationally renowned storyteller Brian “Fox” Ellis. Ellis portrays John James Audubon in entertaining and meticulously researched monologues in a two-part program.
At 9:00 AM, join ‘Mr. Audubon’ on a unique bird watching adventure at the Wapello Land & Water Reserve in Hanover, IL with lessons on field ecology, scientific method, art history, and bird migration.
At 1:00 PM, the program will move indoors to the Hanover Township Park District Building for an inside look at the studio of one of America’s greatest naturalists and wildlife artists. Listen to tales of Audubon’s adventures as he finishes something no one had ever accomplished before – drawing every bird in North America. Ellis also brings a museum worth of beautiful, life-like portraits of birds by John James Audubon.
Brian “Fox” Ellis is an internationally acclaimed author, storyteller, historian, and naturalist. He has worked with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, The Field Museum, and dozens of other museums across the country. Ellis is a highly sought speaker and the author of 16 books.
