Conservation Options

Conservation easement, land donation, and land registry programs are helping landowners protect land, as development pressure intensifies in Jo Daviess County. JDCF matches planning methods in these programs with each landowner’s unique situation—often a property kept open and free from inappropriate development for many years, perhaps for generations. Property owners are faced with tough questions about future ownership. Will younger family members be able to care for beloved properties? Can anything be done now to guide land use decades or even centuries from now? Proper planning can ensure that the places we love do not disappear one parcel at a time.
